Senior Citizens Advisory Committee

The Senior Citizens Advisory Committee focuses on members of the community aged above 55 years of age, their families and carers. The Committee was established to provide advice on issues relevant to policies, programs, events, facilities and services that impact on the quality of life of older residents living in Blacktown City and developing age friendly communities. Committee members consists of representatives from the community and aged services.

 What does the Senior Citizens Advisory Committee do?

The members of the Senior Citizens Advisory Committee are working on activities and projects related to key priority areas identified by the Committee. 

These include:

  • Blacktown Seniors Day Celebration, a new Seniors Festival event co-designed with community partners delivered in 2018, 2019 and 2020
  • Support Forums for Older People, delivered in collaboration with key agencies to empower participants to access support, navigate the aged care system and improve health and wellbeing
  • Support older people to access information and improve digital literacy
  • Promoting the value of older people and acknowledging the contribution they make to community.
