Westlink M7 Blacktown Running Festival

This year's Blacktown Running Festival marks our 14th year partnership with Westlink M7. There is a race for everyone from professional athletes to families, and kids just having a go!

The traffic free marathon circuit makes it one the world’s most unique. The Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km and 5km events will be run on the Westlink M7 Shared Pathway and IAAF/AIMS Certified Accurate and member of AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races).

Only for the 10km, 5km and 2km Kids Marathon. No late entry fee.             

Start times and location 

Blacktown International Sports Park, Rooty Hill – Athletics Facility.

6:45 am     Start of Marathon

7:15 am     Start of Half Marathon

7:40 am     Start of 10km Run

7:50 am     Start of 5km Run

7:55 am     Start of Kids Marathon 2km

Race number collection   

Race Number Collection: Participants who enter up until 12noon Wednesday 3 July 2019 will have their race number posted from 12 July 2019. Entries received from after this time will have the option of collecting the race number from Blacktown City Council (62 Flushcombe Road) Blacktown NSW after a date to be confirmed or on race day from 5:30am onwards.

Finisher rewards

Finisher’s will receive a medallion, Gift and certificate. There will also be discount vouchers from various supporters and sponsors.

Overall 1st Place Male & Female: $3500.00 each

Overall 2nd Place Male & Female: $2300.00 each

Overall 3rd Place Male & Female: $1500.00 each

Half Marathon

Overall 1st Place Male & Female: $1300.00 each

10 km Fun run

Kids Marathon

Vouchers will be given to the first place in each age category 5-7 years, 8-12 years and 13-15 years. 

Course profile

All races are an out and back course. The Westlink M7 Shared Pathway is an undulating sealed course with mostly asphalt and concrete surfaces. All participants must keep left at all times unless overtaking.

Drink stations

• Marathon: 11

• Half Marathon: 6

• 10km: 2

• 5km: 1

Powerade and water supplied at each. Gels will be provided for Marathon and Half Marathon. Portable toilets are located on the course at each drink station.

Pacers

Pacers will be supplied for the following racers and times:

Marathon 
3:00, 3:15, 3:30,3:45, 4:00, 4:15, 4:30,4:45 and 5:00 hours.

Half Marathon 

1:25, 1:30, 1:35, 1:40, 1:45, 1:50, 1:55, 2:00, 2:05 and 2 hours:10 mins.

10km Fun Run 

35, 40, 45, 50, 55 and 60 mins.

Parking

Free parking is available at the starting line, Athletics Centre, Blacktown International Sports Park, Eastern Road, Rooty Hill.

Food and refreshments

Food and refreshments will be sold on the day within Blacktown International Sports Park.

Shared path closure

The Westlink M7 Shared Pathway will be closed to other users on race day from 3:00am-12noon. State Emergency Service’s from Blacktown. Fairfield and Liverpool will marshal each entry/exit point. St Johns Ambulance will marshal the full course on bicycles as well as at Blacktown International Sports Park.

Southern Course on Westlink M7 Shared Pathway

Half Marathon and 5km

Northern Course on Westlink M7 Shared Pathway

Start Route for the 42.195km/21.1km/10km and 5km   

Start on the track in front of grand stand and complete 700m (Clockwise direction). Follow through gate and crossing and onto footpath outside the Softball Venue. Follow path to the Eastern Road entry gate. Right turn on Eastern Road footpath, follow path towards entry to pathway. Right turn on the entry/exit ramp of Westlink M7 Shared Pathway. 

Finish Route for the 42.195km/21.1km/10km and 5km

Exit on Eastern Road ramp from Westlink M7 Shared Pathway. Left turn onto Eastern Road. Follow footpath down to main entrance of Blacktown International Sports Park. Left turn near traffic lights on footpath and follow through around Softball venue to the crossing. Right turn and follow through the gate into the stadium. Complete 300m of track to the finish!

Kids Marathon (2km)

The Kids Marathon is a series that is run at other events in Australia. Participants will complete 5 laps of the track. Participants will receive a medal, certificate, and a gift.
