Notification of Public Hearing - St Bartholomew's Cemetery Expansion

You are invited to attend a public hearing to discuss the reclassification of 15 council owned parcels adjacent to the existing St Bartholomew’s Cemetery from “community” to “operational” land.

The proposed reclassifications are part of the Planning Proposal – St Bartholomew’s Cemetery Expansion, Prospect (Amendment No 22) which was publicly exhibited from 11 September 2019 to 11 October 2019.

The project aims to facilitate the expansion of St Bartholomew’s Cemetery in Prospect to accommodate upwards of 10,000 new burials

The purpose of the public hearing is to give interested people the opportunity to have their say on the proposed reclassifications before a decision is made.

Any person may attend the public hearing, and may choose to speak or simply observe.

An independent planning consultant will chair the public hearing. Their job will be to provide information about the proposal and to listen to any feedback the attendees may have. They will then report the feedback to Council with a recommendation as to whether or not, in their view, the proposed reclassifications are appropriate.

Council will consider all feedback received from the public during the exhibition period and at the public hearing before making a final decision about whether or not to proceed with the Planning Proposal, with or without variation.
