Published on 13 January 2021 Blacktown City residents will have the opportunity to develop important water safety skills with Blacktown City Council launching the Swim Sense program.The FREE water confidence program is targeted at adults and will run at Council’s 5 leisure and aquatic centres from Monday 18 to Thursday 21 January and will include both wet and dry sessions covering water safety and learning to swim. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Citizen of the Year announced Published on 14 December 2020 Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer Darryl Hamilton has been named as the 2020 Blacktown Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Citizen of the Year.Mr Hamilton works as the ACLO with Mount Druitt Police Area Command, and also plays a pivotal role in the Breaking Barriers fitness program, which provides an important circuit breaker for Aboriginal youth at risk of entering the justice system.
