E Readers 

Designed to support early readers to practice. They feature stories or factual information and range from simple one word, or one sentence per page books, up to short chapter books. Use the coloured grading system to find your child's reading level.

  • Level 1 (Yellow): 1 word up to 2 sentences per page.
  • Level 2 (Red): 3-6 sentences with simple language.
  • Level 3 (Green): Longer sentences and paragraphs with multi-syllable words.
  • Level 4 (Blue): Short chapter books of between 4-10 chapters.

JF Junior Fiction Cover a broad range of reading interests and genres, including fairytales, film and television tie-ins, prize winning titles and books with Australian content. 6-12
JGR Junior Graphic Novels Stories presented in comic format.  6-12
PRC Premiers Reading Challenge These books have a prominent fluorescent label stating the recommended reading level. Titles from the K-2 and Year 3-4 lists are shelved together. Books from the Year 5-6 and 7-9 lists are interfiled with Junior Fiction and Young Adult collections. You can borrow up to 10 Premier Reading Challenge titles at a time. 4-15
JMAG Junior Magazines Cover a wide range of reading interests. 5-12 
JSW Junior Spoken Word CDs and MP3s of stories being read aloud, including many by popular authors. 4-15
JRA Junior Read-Along These books include a CD so you can read along with the story being read to you. 3-7
JDVD Junior DVDs Rated G or PG, this collection includes music, preschool programs, animation, documentaries and family movies. 0-12
TOYS Toys This collection is available from Our Library @ The Mount Druitt Hub. Items are available for loan from all Blacktown City Libraries locations by reserving the selected toy through the catalogue. You can borrow up to 5 toys at a time. 1-5
