Community Recycling Centre

Blacktown residents now have access to two local Community Recycling Centres, that provide a convenient way to dispose of problem waste in an environmentally friendly way.

Penrith Community Recycling Centre:
Location: Gate 3, 96 Dunheved Circuit, St Marys
Phone: 4732 7777 (Penrith City Council)
Opening Hours: 

  • Monday to Friday – 8.30 am to 2.00 pm

  • Saturday – 8.00 am to 12.00 noon

  • Sunday – closed

Hawkesbury Community Recycling Centre:

Location: 1 The Driftway, South Windsor
Phone: 4560 4444 (Hawkesbury City Council)
Opening Hours:

  • 8.00 am to 4.00 pm, 7 days a week (excluding public holidays)

You can dispose of the following waste items for free at the community recycling centre:

  • mobile phones

  • paint

  • polystyrene (Penrith only)

  • smoke detectors

  • fluorescent globes and tubes

  • gas bottles and fire extinguishers

  • household and car batteries

  • motor and other oils

  • electronic and electrical waste, including: 

  • televisions

  • video and DVD players

  • printers

  • fax machines

  • desktop and laptop computers

  • computer monitors

  • keyboards

  • computer mouse

  • hard drives

  • motherboards

  • network, video and sound cards

  • cables 

 Please note:

  • only household quantities of the above materials will be accepted.  As a guide a maximum container of 20 litres or 20 kilograms for each of the wastes listed

  • general household rubbish or bulky household waste (such as furniture and green waste) will not be accepted.

Storing and transporting your problem waste

Please handle and transport your materials carefully and safely. Protect your vehicle by placing items on a protective sheet or tray in the boot to capture any leakages or breakages.
