A variety of sport and recreation activities are played at Whalan Reserve. The sports include rugby league, football, AFL, cricket. Local recreation clubs include NSW Rocketry Association and Whalan Model Car Club.
The outdoor fitness equipment is located along the walking path that can be accessed from the entrance to the reserve at Debrincat Ave, Whalan.
The playground is located beside the sportsfield amenities building. The play equipment is suitable for young children and includes a flying fox.
