Get into the Christmas spirit with the annual Blacktown City Christmas Lights Competition!
Residents are encouraged to decorate their house, town house or villa or nominate their neighbour's property. Over $4000 in cash and prizes to be won.
Nominations will open on 3rd November 2025.
Nominations will close on 3rd December 2025.
Preliminary Judging
Friday 5 December - Wednesday 10 December, inclusive between 8.30 pm - 11.00 pm.
Final Round Judging
Sunday 14 December between 8.30 pm - 11.00 pm.

Selected from previous 1st Place overall competition winners. If entrant obtains 1st Place overall they are no longer eligible to win any of the prizes.

All individuals who nominate a property are eligible for this prize. Only one entry per person applies.
Best Street
This year we will recognise the City's 'Best Street'. The Best Street title acknowledges neighbours who come together in the spirit of Christmas to create a festive atmosphere in the street they each call home. To be eligible for the title of Best Street, you must have a minimum of 3 decorated properties submit an entry form from the same street.

This competition is available to residents of the Blacktown Local Government Area only.

Judging and photographing will take place from Friday 6 December - Wednesday 11 December, inclusive between 8.30 pm - 11 pm. Entrants must have their display on and ready to be judged at all times during this period. Properties that do not have their display on at the time of judging will be marked as ineligible.

Judging is conducted anonymously and through points awarded for appeal, originality and overall presentation. The prizes for this competition will be awarded on the basis of the categories outlined.

The judges’ decision is final and no further correspondence shall be considered.

Entrants agree to have their name, contact number and address disclosed for marketing, judging and publicity purposes unless otherwise advised at the time of entry.

Entrants agree to have their property photographed for judging and publicity purposes, unless otherwise advised at the time of entry.

Entrants accept responsibility for the safety of their property with issues pertaining but not limited to: electricity, pedestrians, equipment, decorations, damage and insurance. Entrants must consider the impact of their display in relation to safety and security of their property, vehicular and pedestrian traffic and must plan to ensure that any risks are minimised. The security of all aspects of the display is the sole responsibility of the entrant.

Blacktown City Council and sponsors of this competition will accept no liability for any consequences such as damage, injury or theft arising out of entry to the competition or prizes accepted by entrants.

Charity collection boxes are prohibited unless a letter of authority from a registered charity is obtained and prominently displayed. Collections for personal gain of the entrant are strictly prohibited and will lead to disqualification from the competition.

Entrants are not to use the footpath, electrical poles or any property outside their boundary for any purpose of their display. Rental properties should seek written permission from their landlords before considering their display.

Failure to comply with the Terms and Conditions of Entry may lead to cancellation of entry and withdrawal of prizes.

To be eligible for the title of Best Street, all properties must have submitted a competition entry form. Minimum of 3 properties per street to be eligible.

Entrants should be mindful of the potential impacts on their neighbours in regard to light spillage, noise and the hours of operation of their light and sound displays. Placement and operation of decorations on properties should be carried out having respect for local neighbourhood amenity.
