Each calendar year we offer local schools, churches, registered community groups and non-profit/ not-for-profit organisations 20 free plants for planting on their property.

It’s all part of our commitment to ‘green the City’.

Eligible groups can request trees, shrubs and groundcovers to plant on their grounds.

Terms and conditions of Schools and Community Groups plant giveaway

  • Local groups must submit a written request to council@blacktown.nsw.gov.au on their registered group letterhead. All requests must have details of a named contact person. Requests must be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to their required date to allow processing and confirmation of final plant numbers.

  • Participants must have a property in the Blacktown City Council local government area to plant on. Proof of this may be requested.

  • Plants are expected to be planted on the property presented in the request. Plants cannot be sold, used for fundraising or given away.

  • Groups are allocated twenty (20) plants per calendar year (Jan – Dec).

  • A group can increase the requested amount of plants by asking their group community/members to donate their residential annual allocation of 2 free plants per property. Written permission is required to transfer residential annual allocations over to the group. Please ask for a copy of an example permission slip, in your request to Council.

  • An applicant can increase the amount of plants in their request by registering their school for School’s National Tree Day on the Planet Ark website. Include details of your site registration number in your request.
