Industrial stormwater pollution

Adobe Spill kit response image.jpg

Industrial stormwater pollution presents a high risk to our natural waterways. Chemicals and inorganic liquids, e.g. oils and fuel are commonly used in spray painting and vehicle mechanic workshops. Runoff from these liquids into stormwater drains can negatively impact the health of water systems.

We aim to provide information and training for local industrial businesses so they can take informed actions to reduce any risks their work may pose to waterway health.

Here are some tips to reduce the risk of stormwater pollution:

* implement spill prevention and response plans
* ensure all employees are aware and knowledgeable about spill and emergency response
* respond promptly to prevent a pollution incident.

Spill kit rebate program
Spill kits provide physical barriers and clean-up equipment to prevent chemicals from entering drains and polluting our waterways. We are running a rebate program for the purchase of spill kits. Click here to find out more information.
