The sustainable Building Design Objectives have been conceived as a tool and framework to enable good design and thoughtful decisions.
They have been created in response to our “Responding to climate change strategy and ‘responding to climate change policy’ which commit us to developing a sustainable building design policy for Council buildings.
The objectives are clear and measurable, and intentionally avoid providing solutions. They are framed as interdependent design problems to enable the design teams who work with us to use their expertise, skill and knowledge to develop the most sustainable projects, we can within the budgets we have available.
We intend the projects we develop to demonstrate leadership. In particular we intend to demonstrate that sustainable development is not an add on, that it is affordable and that it must be an integrated part of all projects.
