24 October – 12 December 2020
Saturdays, 2 pm – 4 pm
We’re handing over the keys to our art studio to high schoolers! Every Saturday afternoon, a local artist will lead a fun workshop where you can hang out with other young people and learn new creative skills.
Anime and manga specialist Pinky is first up, and will take you through the basics of creating characters. A self-taught artist, Pinky has over a decade of experience and a passion for drawing. She will share her library of images and expertise to help you make your own anime and manga characters, or draw your favourites.
Taking the lead after Pinky is renowned street artist Sam Absurd. Sam is a professional aerosol artist with over 10 years’ experience in large scale murals and paintings, incorporating other distinct mediums such as acrylic paints and inks.
In his Graffiti 101 workshops, Sam explores the fundamentals of constructing and bending standard letters into original graffiti style lettering. You’ll get to use specialised paint markers to create a ‘piece’ on a canvas pad to take home. You are also welcome to bring in your own image or character design to work on, and take guidance from Sam.
