Book a private venue for a multi-day or recurring event
A multi-day event or any event recurring monthly or yearly will need to be discussed with our Gateway Town Planners to ascertain if the proposed event is permissible on the land first (for example markets are only permissible in certain zones on certain land).
You will need to book a pre-application meeting with us to discuss the nature of your event and we will advise you on the issues that need to be addressed including, traffic, parking, pedestrian movement, shuttle bus, proximity to public transport, noise control, food safety and proposed hours.
Formal approval from Council is then required and is obtained through the lodgement of a Development Application, prepared by a suitably qualified planning consultant who can prepare the Statement of Environmental Effects to support the Development Application.
You may also need to engage a traffic consultant to do a traffic and parking assessment for the proposed event and an acoustic consultant to measure the expected noise for the duration of the event/s on the adjoining residents and prepare a noise report accordingly.
It is essential that you contact us at least 6 months before your event so that the pre-application meeting can be held and the Development Application and associated reports are prepared and lodged with us for assessment.
The Development Application will have to be notified to neighbours and also to the Local Traffic Committee to ensure the NSW Police and Transport for NSW are happy to support the event. The final assessment of the events proposal will be made by the assessing town planner and then a final determination will be made either by Council or the Blacktown Local Planning Panel.
Do not book the event until you obtain development consent from Council as there is no guarantee of approval until the final determination is made and if approved there will be conditions that will have to be complied with first before you can proceed with the event.
Please contact our Duty Planner for initial advice on your event at the Gateway counter or by phone or email, then book a meeting with the gateway planning team for more detailed information. Booking details for a pre-application meeting can be found on our website at Plan and Build
