Strategic Planning

  • Long term planning strategies for City

  • Metro strategies that affect our City - Western Sydney Airport

  • Precinct planning of North West Growth Centre

  • Plans for Urban Renewal Precincts

  • Seconded to the Greater Sydney Commission -preparation of West Central District Plan

  • Prepares Local Environmental Plans, Development Control Plans and masterplans.

Development Assessment

  • Assesses major Development Applications - commercial /industrial development, subdivisions, high rise shop top housing, multi-unit housing and residential apartment developments

  • Issues Section 149 planning certificates - required for sale of land

  • Pre-lodgement meetings with applicants and developers about their proposals. 

Building Assessment  

  • Assesses Development Applications for small developments - dwellings, dual occupancies, outbuildings

  • Assesses Engineering Plans for the construction of drainage and roadworks by developers

  • Issues Construction Certificates and Complying Development Certificates for buildings

  • Swimming pool inspection program.

 Development Policy

  • Development complaint investigations

  • Prosecutions of illegal structures and land uses

  • Defends Council decisions in Land and Environment Court

  • Heritage buildings - register

  • New policies for development

  • Site-specific Local Environmental Plans and Development Control Plans.

Peter Conroy

Peter grew up in rural Victoria before moving to Melbourne for work and study. Peter was initially employed by Melbourne City Council to wash traffic lights and parking meters, whilst he studied Town Planning part time in the evenings. Peter has worked in Local Government for over 35 years, in both Victoria and New South Wales, in councils ranging from the centre of Sydney to the urban fringe.
